El Prado Show Introduces the Art of Collecting

El Prado celebrates our Nation’s beginnings by helping you begin your own art collection.  On July 4th, El Prado by the Creek starts the “Collector Inauguration” show and features nationally recognized emerging artists and select works from well established artists.

How do I start an art collection? This question is a common one at El Prado by the Creek.   Art collecting isn’t a left-brain, calculated, stock-market type judgment.  Although financial investment sometimes plays a factor in the decision to buy art, the real investment is one of personal discovery.  “The art someone surrounds themselves with,” explains Joyice Gere, president of El Prado Galleries, “reflects who you are and your vision of beauty.”

Sometimes a theme isn’t apparent at first glance.   An art enthusiast from Oregon described his collection as eclectic, but when he described some of his favorite pieces, the common thread shined through to reveal a deep appreciation and love of majestic landscapes.  In many different mediums and styles, each piece of the collection focused on the unique American terrain.

“We planned the ‘Collector Inauguration’ show to begin on July 4th,” says Gere.  “It’s a time to show your colors, wave the flag of your heritage and to unfold the creative side of your personality.”  From Arizona’s own Grand Canyon (one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World) to the beauty of the Sonoran Desert, fine landscape art admirers flock to El Prado.  For history aficionados, the gallery offers paintings and sculpture depicting the proud Native American heritage and culture.

For the contemporary minded collector, El Prado presents works with personality.  Freedom and strength are found in the resilient women of sculptor Sally Kimp.  Mike Medow’s figurescapes are wood carved human forms that reflect the rock formations of the West.  Robin Laws and Marty Goldstein offer animal sculpture that triggers our innate bond to our non-human companions.

Your history weaves that common thread into the art you are drawn to.  Fine art is a lasting way of telling your story, remembering the past and anticipating the future.  “Art lifts our spirits” Gere says, “and grounds our commitment to what we truly value in life, the connections to the people and the places that make up our past, our present and our future.”

On Independence Day, discover your personal insight.  The “Collector Inauguration” show kicks off with an opening reception on Friday, July 4th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with the experienced and friendly art consultants of El Prado by the Creek available to answer all your questions.

El Prado by the Creek is located in Tlaquepaque Village, 336 Highway 179, Sedona, Arizona.  Established in 1976, the gallery is a standard for fine art in Sedona and is open from 10:00 a.m. daily.  El Prado by the Creek can be contacted at 928-282-7390 and at www.ElPradoGalleries.com.
